It includes four Layers with vector control, a substantial amount of modulation, modeled filters, a large number of samples, 64 stereo voices and 14 effects. Korg’s wavestate native is the fully-compatible software version of the hardware wavestate synthesizer. It was possible to use up to eight patches in what was called Performance Mode, and each of those patches could utilize up to four oscs. It could also use a wave sequence by using a certain order of waveforms to generate many types of patterns. Each of those oscs could use various waveforms from its onboard collection of sounds. You were able to use its joystick to mix between four oscillators. It used a vector synthesis system and was able to shift between different waveforms. The Korg Wavestation was released in 1990. Before I start, I just want to give you some background on the synthesizer that was really a prequel (of sorts) to Korg’s wavestate native. Here we’ll be taking a look at another recently released synth plugin called wavestate native. The software contains extensive preset programs and waveforms that can be found on all models in the series: WAVESTATION, WAVESTATION EX, WAVESTATION A/D and WAVESTATION SR. There are 7 types of PCM and program cards installed. In addition to over 1500 built-in preset sounds, a huge number of added waveforms and PCM wave sequences allow you to create even more diverse sound.In our last issue we looked at Korg’s opsix native FM synth plugin. The user could use the joystick to “mix” or “transform” between the four oscillators, or create a wave sequence by placing waveforms in a specific order to create rhythmic or melodic sequences. In addition to these and other unique revolutionary features, the sound section has equipped all PCM WAVESTATIONs, and the parameters of the delicate parts have been fully reproduced in the software by analyzing the circuitry of the original design. The WAVESTATION synthesizer appeared in 1990 with its new “advanced vector synthesis system” that created new sound by combining and switching between several complex waveforms.
